PowerReviews can import any existing Ratings and Reviews you may have collected via another online reviews provider. This ensures you do not lose any legacy data once you fully migrate to our solution.
This article contains the following sections:
You must compile your Ratings and Reviews from your previous reviews provider into a CSV file using UTF-8 encoding. This file must also include all PowerReviews required fields (below).
PowerReviews can offer guidance on how to populate any required fields that may be missing from your previous reviews provider. We also recommend contacting your previous reviews provider for instructions on how to export your existing reviews from their solution as soon as possible, if you're not sure how to do this.
You must provide the following fields in your file for PowerReviews to be able to import your data.
|Review Id||String||The unique ID for the review|
|Page Id||String. The maximum length for this value is 50 characters.||The unique ID for the product|
|Review Display||String. The maximum length for this value is 40 characters.||The user's nickname on the review|
|Review Title||String. The maximum length for this value is 60 characters.||The user-entered review title|
|Review Date||Date. Use MM/DD/YYYY or any other valid date format.||The date the user wrote the review|
|Review Location||String. The maximum length for this value is 40 characters.||The physical location of the reviewer|
|Review Text||String||The main body or comments on the review|
|Rating||1-5. Whole numbers only.||The star rating value|
|Verified Buyer||Yes/No||States whether or not the user is a verified buyer|
|Review Status||Approved, Pending, or Rejected||Valid status of the review|
You may also include any of the following optional fields in your file.
|Locale||Valid locale like en_US, de_DE, or es_MX.||The language locale of the collected reviews|
|Recommended||Yes/No||States whether or not the user would recommend the product to a friend|
|Helpful Votes||Numeric, non-negative||The number of users who voted that the review was helpful|
|Not Helpful Votes||Numeric, non-negative||The number of users who voted that the review wasn't helpful|
|User ID||String||Your unique ID for the user. Leave this blank if the reviewers weren't authenticated before writing the review.|
|Service Comments||String||The customer service or delivery comments associated to the user experience|
|User Email||Valid email||The reviewer's email address|
|Images||Valid external URL list||A pipe separated list of image URLs associated with the review|
|Image Captions||Alphanumeric list||A pipe separated list of image titles and/or captions associated with the review|
|IP Address||Valid IP Address||The IP address of the reviewer. This field is required for Syndication|
|IovationBlackBox||String||The authentication information from iOvation. This field may be required for Syndication.|
|Pros||Valid Pros list||A pipe separated list of pros associated with the review|
|Cons||Valid Cons list||A pipe separated list of cons associated with the review|
|Merchant Response||String||The merchant's response provided to the reviewer to appear along with the review|
|Variant||String||The variant ID of the product|
|Videos||Valid YouTube list||A pipe separated list of YouTube URLs associated with the review|
|Video Captions||Alphanumeric list||A pipe separated list of video titles and/or captions associated with the review|
|Disclosure Code||String||Accepted values are sampling and sweepstakes|
Based on your previous reviews provider, you may have additional data or fields beyond these, or data that is stored in a different format. Contact your Implementation Team or Account Team to discuss any data you don't see listed above.
Sample File & Import Process
1. Prepare your file to send to PowerReviews, noting the requirements above.
- Click to download a review import sample CSV file.
2. Send your file to PowerReviews.
- If you are currently implementing, provide your file to your Implementation Team. Your Technical Implementation Consultant will validate and import the file to your Test and Production accounts.
- If you are an existing client, contact PowerReviews Technical Support to have us upload your file to your Production account.
3. In the PowerReviews Portal, navigate to Moderation > Review Moderator Level 2 to approve the content, if you are participating in Level 2 Moderation.
Brand Syndication Clients
Due to authenticity policies within the sharing network, you may be required to provide reviewer IP addresses and/or iOvation data in order to qualify for Full Network review syndication. Contact your Implementation Team or Account Team with any questions.
