To keep you within FTC disclosure compliance regulations regarding reviews that were sponsored or otherwise incentivized, PowerReviews has disclosure functionality that adds a visual element to the Review Display. The most common disclosure types are for Sweepstakes and Sampling.
Adding Disclosures to Reviews
There are multiple ways you can add disclosures to your collected reviews. You can pass an extra URL parameter to the Write-a-Review (WAR) form during the review writing process. This happens as part of your email campaigns.
- For a Sweepstakes campaign, add pr_disclosure_code=sweepstakes to the URL of your WAR wrapper page
- For a Sampling campaign, add pr_disclosure_code=sampling to the URL of your WAR wrapper page
In addition to adding these URL parameters, you can also use feature flags to add the URL parameter to your Follow-Up Email campaigns automatically. This requires no additional work; contact your Account Team or PowerReviews Technical Support.
Customizing Disclosures
You can also customize the language you use in your Sweepstakes or Sampling review disclosures.
By default, the Sweepstakes Disclosure reads: Submitted as part of a sweepstakes entry. You can change this to something like: Review collected via a monthly sweepstakes contest, etc.
By default, the Sampling Disclosure reads: Submitted as part of a free sample program. You can change this to something like: Received a free sample for this review, etc.
To customize your disclosure language, contact your Account Team or PowerReviews Technical Support.
